About Us
Welcome to the Little Jamaica Community Coalition! Our organization was started through a partnership of resident groups, K.E Residents and Oakwood Vaughan Neighbourhood Association, who saw the need for collective action to address the systemic issues impacting our community.
We are a grassroots organization that is dedicated to promoting affordable housing, food sovereignty, community land trust, community benefits, and resident engagement. Our coalition seeks to build a sustainable and equitable community by addressing the root causes of systemic injustice and uplifting the voices of those most impacted by these issues.
Our vision is to create a vibrant and inclusive community where all residents have access to safe, affordable housing and healthy, culturally relevant food. We aim to establish a community land trust that ensures long-term affordability and resident control over land and housing. We seek to promote community benefits that prioritize the needs of residents and foster economic and social well-being. Additionally, we aim to empower residents to become actively engaged in decision-making processes that impact their lives and the future of the community.
